IMPORTANCE OF THE 1POINT PROJECT FOR TECOS SLOVENIAN TOOL AND DIE DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
Post February 1, 2023 by Dragan Kusić
1Point project proved to be for TECOS research and development engineers as well as for technicians a highly valuable practical work-based learning approach how to gain/increase concrete knowledge and skills. It turned out that several TECOS workers are daily using the 1point training methodology to resolve majority of occurred engineering problems they face with. TECOS as Slovenian Tool and Die Development centre offers to several production companies (R&D departments) , faculties and their institutes , several trainings and practical lectures in field of toolmaking, polymer processing, part construction, mechatronics, Industry 4.0, etc., whereby the training and course material has been further improved based on 1point training methodology in order to improve digital (IT) skills and expand expertise of their personnel as well. Our goal is to maximally encourage the recruitment of technical staff, which is already in short supply in Slovenia and boost/encourage innovative thinking and practical industrial maintenance problem solving.
TECOS participation in the 1Point project, helped our company to stay competitive and up to date with latest industry standards/trends by identifying relevant skills and competencies required for maintenance professionals and unskilled persons on the labour market, especially in the field of 3D printing, lean manufacturing/maintenance and AR/VR that are now more and more extensively used in the Toolmaking and Plastics sector. By working on 1point project we are now as company overall better prepared to attract and retain technical students and already skilled professionals as we further increased our competitiveness in the Toolmaking and Plastic industry.
Moreover, by developing the 1point training content and curriculum with project partners we ensured that everyone who attends the training course via e-learning platform can improve its digital skills and knowledge ratio, which will lead him to be even more effective on the industry production floor and be more open to use newly developed technology such as AR/VR smart glasses, 3D printers etc. which are slowly coming to the industry field and which will be used in the near future as tool to help the industrial workers to easily acquire new knowledge and skills. In this relation they won’t be scared to use and adopt new technological tools and will see them as part of solution to their daily industrial problems.
Therefore, they can perform their job effectively, be more satisfied and motivated on their workplaces.
After the conclusion of the project, TECOS will continue with dissemination of the achieved results, keeping contact channels open with Slovenian and international toolmaking and plastics processing companies, universities, Slovenian maintenance society thus promoting the use of the digital e-learning training platform on biggest Slovenian industrial forums and industrial fairs, where we come across students, maintenance people and other interested people from industrial maintenance world.
